Are Facial Cleansers Worth It?

Are Facial Cleansers Worth It?

Have you ever heard of facial cleansers? I am sure you have. If you are anything like me, you have walked down the aisles of a cosmetics section in the store only to be overwhelmed by the number of different types of facial cleansers out there. Even Google can be overwhelming with the amount of information on whether or not you should use a facial cleanser and which one is best! Isn't just using soap and water on your face fine?! Today I hope to help you clear up whether or not facial cleansers are worth getting.

Facial cleansers are specifically made to help cleanse your facial skin’s pores' impurities. Dirt, unwanted debris, dead skin, and oil build up on your face as you go through your day. Furthermore, bacteria, pollutants, and virus germ land on your face as well. Facial cleansers help penetrate and remove all of this out of the pores. What about regular soap, though? It is true that soap cleans your hands and body of bacteria and virus germs, though it does this at a cost if used on your face. Soaps contain ingredients, such as sodium lauryl sulfate, that irritate the skin. This irritation can cause redness and itchiness, which can cause your skin to become tender.

In a debate about using a facial cleanser or soap and water, using a facial cleanser is better. Though what would happen if you never washed your face? The skin is made up of layers of skin cells, pores, and hair follicles. Without cleaning your face, the dead skin cells along with the impurities earlier spoken about will form a blockage within the skin pores. This can cause acne to form. Furthermore, the effects of not using a facial cleanser depending on the type of skin you have. If you have dry skin, then your skin will get dryer and duller as cleansers also help your facial skin cells become more hydrated. On the other hand, if you have oily skin, not washing your face can actually cause it to become even more oily and lead to an acne breakout. Either way, your face needs to be washed and facial cleansers help.

Starting your skin regime off with a great facial cleanser can actually help you see even better results! Professional-grade products are more effective than retail skincare products due to the fact that professional products have more active ingredients. DBH’s Green Apple Premium Cleansing Oil is definitely a favorite in the professional crowd for the way it cleans and hydrates at the same time. According to an esthetician from DBH, one of the cleansers that she favors is DBH’s Purifying Glycolic Cleanser Foam.

There are still a lot of cleansers out there, but not all of them are equal. Professional grade is definitely the way to go. If you need help choosing a cleanser to add to your routine, feel free to shoot us an email

Until next time, have a radiantly clean day!
