Vitamin C & Me

Vitamin C & Me

by Kristine Seganti

For years Vitamin C has been one of the top ingredients found in products that fight premature aging and pigmentation!

Today we ask; What does Vitamin C do for me?

What is Vitamin C?

Vitamin C is a water soluble vitamin found in many fruits and vegetables. Also known as ascorbic acid. It helps to naturally boost Glutathione, which is responsible for lowering melanin production.

What does Vitamin C do for skin?

Topically, Vitamin C plays a major roll in collagen synthesis and assists in inhibiting the tyrosinase process, thus reducing pigment production. It is also a potent antioxidant that fights off free radicals. Free radicals are molecules that are missing an electron, causing skin damage and premature aging. So basically, it reduces fine lines, and wrinkles, brightens skin, evens out skin tone and firms naturally.

Can Vitamin C help lighten the skin?

Taking Vitamin C both topically and internally has shown to reduce the production of pigmentation and increase your cellular turnover rate! That’s why I love this vitamin, it does so much! It helps lighten pigmentation, boosts collagen while firming the skin. All ages, men and women want that!

Topically I love the C-Lester Vitamin C20 Serum by Dermaesthetics Beverly Hills. I use this as my daily free radical defender and my nightly repair serum. I also enjoy fresh juicing with Vitamin C each morning. I use 3 medium oranges, (1 with the peel still on), and 1 grapefruit. Doing BOTH topically and internally, I notice clearer, brighter, even tone and firmer skin in just 3 short days. The best part is that results are so quick and easy!

What do you recommend for clients with hyperpigmentation?

You first need to ascertain what is causing the hyperpigmentation. Is it sun exposure, hormones, scaring, inflammation, injury; there are so many possibilities and most don’t know how to determine the cause.

I recommend a combination of professional corrective treatments and self care products. To best determine what treatments and products will work best for your skin, it is imperative to visit a professionally trained aesthetician.   Proper skin diagnosis is key to correctly treat the source causing the pigmentation.

How do I locate a Professional?

What should I expect from a DBH Professional Aesthetician?

Results! Once you set an appointment, generally you will start off by completing a client questionnaire about your skin and everyday lifestyle. This will help the aesthetician learn about your skin, from the inside/out. Once the treatment commences, you will receive a deep Clinical Cleansing for proper skin analysis. Your DBH Professional will choose corrective treatments and self care so that you begin to see immediate and continued results.
