Which Moisturizer is Best for YOU?
All too often, my clients complain that moisturizer makes their skin too “greasy” so they omit that step in their daily regimen. It’s also common to hear they’ve been using the same moisturizer their mother has been using for years, which is truly the equivalent of saying you’ve had the same wardrobe since high school, haha!
When you fail to moisturize, you risk depleting your skin of necessary nutrients that prevent appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Skipping the moisturizer also eliminates that extra barrier from the elements and/or makeup (insert premature aging here…)
There is no “one size fits all” approach to moisturizing, so knowing your skin type will come in handy when selecting proper self-care products. For a better understanding of this, we’ll cover some of the skin basics so you can better analyze your skin and make informed decisions on products going forward.
o Sensitive Skin – easily irritated and often redo Normal – not breakout prone or dry with an even skin tone
o Dry Skin – flaky, dull, tight skin
o Oily Skin – breakout prone, large pores, shiny skin
o Combination Skin – typically oily in T Zone (forehead, nose, chin) and dry in other areas
Once you’ve identified what your skin type is, you’ll be able to determine the ideal moisturizer to complete your regimen…
o Sensitive Skin – look for products that contain no fragrance or chemicals and are perhaps hypoallergenic. Our Milk Cream is a light, non-oily, hydrating moisturizer that soothes even the most sensitive skins. DBH Powerblend formulation nourishes and replenishes moisture without causing irritation.
o Normal Skin – choose a moisturizer that contains nutrients to maintain your healthy complexion, like our EGF Nano Cream. DBH PowerBlend of sh-Oligopeptide 1, peptides, and amino acids, new cell growth is initiated and damaged cells are repaired to preserve your youthful appearance.
o Dry Skin – heavier creams and nutrient rich moisturizers, such as our Vitamin A&E Moisture Cream. It provides intense hydration while also increasing cell turnover to unveil that beautiful glow and prevent dehydration.
o Oily Skin – “oil free” and “non-comedogenic” are words to look for in products. Our Skin Balance Cream minimizes sebum activity with triclosan, hydrates and improves barrier function with panthenol and aloe vera, while Vitamin C infuses antioxidants and brightens the complexion.
o Combination Skin – you’ll want to look for products that hydrate the skin without exacerbating oil production. Our Milk Cream makes its second appearance on the list. Our PowerBlend of calming Milk Protein and Aloe Vera nourishes and balances skin as Vitamin E heals and replenishes moisture.
