How to Elevate Your Summer Nighttime Skincare Routine

Beach days, BBQ by the pool, long hikes - these are all typical activities that people do during the summer. However, while these activities are fun for you, they aren’t as fun for your skin. The long days outside make your skin more prone to damage due to exposure from UV rays and free radicals (unstable molecules in the environment that break down collagen).

While the summer season can take a toll on your skin, it doesn’t mean that you should forego your fun in the sun. Dedicating extra time to your nighttime skincare routine will go a long way.

Double Cleanse Your Skin

Minimal makeup is key during the summer. However, regardless of how minimal it really is, any type of makeup needs to be thoroughly removed. The extra sunscreen you’ll be reapplying on your face throughout the day will make this step even more important. We recommend using the Green Apple Premium Cleansing Oil as a pre-cleanser since it’s specifically formulated to clear away makeup, sunblock, and oil.

After that use the Purifying Glycolic Foam Cleanser to gently wash away leftover dirt, debris, toxins, and dead skin cells.

Revitalize With an Antioxidant-Based Toner

Toners act as a deeper, more thorough cleanse for your pores after your general cleanser. They primarily remove excess residue and oil, but also prime the face for the next steps in your skincare regime. For the summertime, use a toner filled with antioxidants to combat the effects of free radicals. Our Antioxidant Toner specifically contains Vitamin E to nourish and repair damaged skin cells.

Apply Serums That Can Combat Free Radicals

Lightweight serums are the way to go during the hotter weather. Serums are like medicine for the skin due to their ability to deliver concentrated versions of active ingredients. Incorporating a serum to treat and prevent the effects of environmental damage to your skin is essential. Our Moisture B5 Serum is a hydrating and calming serum fortified with a PowerBlend of Green Tea, CoQ10, NIacinamide, Panthenol and Hyaluronic Acid to supply dry, sensitive skin with hydration and anti-inflammatory properties.

Do a Deep Moisturizing Treatment

Moisturizing is a must - even if your skin gets greasier during the summer. The hot sun can really dry out and dehydrate your skin, which in turn, can lead to premature aging. Using a strong nourishing treatment like our Cellular Hydration Mask is a great way to rehydrate the skin and balance oil production. The mask contains Bentonite, Kaolin Clays, and Zinc Oxide to absorb unwanted oils and eliminate any redness to the skin. Aloe Vera, Safflower Oil and Allantoin reduce inflammation and help restore the skin due to their antioxidant properties. What’s even better is that the Cellular Hydration Mask is on a special promotion this July - buy one Moisture B5 Serum and you’ll receive the Cellular Hydration Mask for free!
