SKINCARE SCIENCE

“The importance of addressing premature aging concerns.”

Underlying our skin is a fiber meshwork of Collagen and Elastin, which are proteins that keep the skin firm. When skin is stretched, this protein matrix is what helps skin snap back into place.

As we age, the fiber network weakens and the skin sags as it loses its structural support.

By using the correct anti-aging products, one can improve the appearance and health of their skin, making it look younger and more radiant.

The best anti-aging skincare products with the right ingredients can also help to prevent further damage to the skin, keeping it looking youthful for longer.

UNDERSTANDING

The Aging Process

As you age, your skin not only thins out and becomes less elastic and more fragile, but the fatty tissue just below the skin decreases. You might notice that you bruise more easily, and the decreased production of natural oils might make your skin drier, wrinkles and age spots appear, and small growths called skin tags are also more common.

None of this so-called “intrinsic aging” of skin can be avoided. Most of the skin changes associated with aging are avoidable, as most of them are due to one main cause: environmental pollutants like UV rays of sun damage.

The Signs of Aging

The signs of aging in skin include fine lines and wrinkles, loss of skin firmness and elasticity, and dark spots or hyperpigmentation.

Other signs of aging include dullness, dehydration, and sagging skin. These can be caused by natural aging and exposure to environmental factors such as sun, pollution, and stress.

Over time, gravity tugs on weakened skin, allowing the jowls near the jawline to droop. The plump smoothness of skin in youth is replaced by a rougher texture.
